Raghunandan Kamath of Natural Ice Cream: The Making of the Indian Ice Cream Baron

In the year 2016, India-based Natural Ice Cream (Natural) owned by Kamaths Ourtimes Ice Creams Pvt. Ltd., won the Coca Cola Golden Spoon Award for India’s ‘Most Admired Foodservice Chain of the Year’ in the ‘Desserts & Ice Cream Parlors’ category. The awards felicitated food service operators and food & grocery retailers for their outstanding achievements. This added to the several accolades that Natural had won over the years. Natural was founded by Raghunandan S. Kamath (Kamath), who, in the face of acute poverty, developed a passion for fruit and an ability to pick the best quality. This skill that he developed helped him later on when the family moved to Mumbai in western India in search of a better life.
